Day 01: Airport – Anuradhapura
On arrival at Colombo, meet our representative who will escort you to the cab to drive to Anuradhapura. En-route visit elephant orphanage in Pinnewala and it is advised to visit during feeding or bathing time.
On arrival check-in and relax. Then explore the city on your own. Later proceed to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02: Anuradhapura city tour
After breakfast, proceed to city tour of Anuradhapura (The first cultural city in Srilanka)
The monumental dagobas, Jetavana Dagoba, Abayagiry Stupa and the Ruwwanveli Seya are the greatest architectural attractions. Buddhism, was to become a cornerstone of the Aryan Sinhalese civilization. The sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree (Peepal) is a sapling of the sacred Bodhi tree in India, in the shelter of which Prince Siddhartha Gauthama attained supreme enlightenment & became Buddha. It was gifted to Sri Lanka by Emperor Asoka in the 3rd century BC and is the oldest recorded tree in the world (2,250 years).
The city has many museums that bear testimony to Sri Lanka's ancient and dynamic civilization, which include the Anuradhapura Archaeological Museum, the Abhayagiri Museum and the Jetavanarama Museum and many other places of interest. Later proceed to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03: Anuradhapura - Sigiriya
After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya via Pollonuruwa - The second cultural city in Srilanka.
Later proceed to Sigiriya.
Sigiriya… meaning lion rock, is more than just a fortress and it was one of the most unique cities in the history of Sri Lanka. A massive monolith of red stone that rises 600ft, this famous rock fortress, stark and forbidding, haunted by an epic story of murder and betrayal, was built in the 5th Century AD by King Kashyapa. The climb to the summit is reached between the paws of a lion. The fortress is surrounded by rock and water gardens. Later proceed to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 04: Sigiriya – Kandy
After breakfast, proceed to Kandy via Dambulla cave temple. Also visit spice gardens at Matale.
Later proceed to Kandy and Check-in at hotel. Later do city tour. Visit the famous Buddha temple – The temple of tooth and in the evening view a traditional dance performance. Later proceed to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 05: Kandy – Colombo
After breakfast, proceed to Colombo. The city of fashion has so many attractions like, the Cinnamon Gardens and the Pettah, Colombo’s busiest and most traditional bazaar area, Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Dutch church at Wolfendhal dating back to 1749, the historic Devatagaha mosque and observe the old parliament, the BMICH (Bandaaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall). Also, visit the ceramics corporation showroom, Majestic City shopping complex, House of Fashion and the Odel unlimited dress boutique. Later proceed to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 06: Colombo - Airport
After breakfast, check out & drive to International airport to board your flight to the onwards destination.
